New Card

Hi All, I know it's been ages since I last blogged but I have been really busy with my kids (as always lol) Anyway, I had to make a card for my boyfriends mum today. My daughter had a lot of input with this card, hence the reason it looks like a card for a child :-)

My daughter chose the Forever Friends stamp which I painted using acrylic paints. I made all the roses using Tim Holtz "Tattered Florals" die and inked the edges using "Broken China" and "Crystal" Stickles on the large roses and "Milled Lavender" on the small roses. The background paper is DCWV Latte stack and the doily and crystal spray is from "Wild Orchid Crafts" (www.wildorchidcrafts.com). I think that covers everything of significance ;)

Wow, that card took me ages to make! I definitely need to practise more ha, ha!

Thanks for looking

New Card

Hi All

I thought I would post a picture of the second card I have ever made (you can see the first one in an earlier post). It is for my boyfriend's sister so I hope she likes it lol.

The background paper is from the "Latte" mat stack by DCWV and "Once Upon a Time" mat stack also by DCWV. All the flowers and other embellishments are from Wild Orchid Crafts (love that online store!) I altered all the colours of the flowers as they all started off as either white or cream and one was a reddish colour. I used gold acrylic paint for the large rose, small rose (which was the reddish one) and the small carnations. I used "Haunted Shadows" glimmer mist by Tattered Angels on the two medium roses and used gold acrylic paint for the accents. I then did a mixture of purple, pink and silver acrylic paint for the other two carnations and accented them with the gold as well. The metal butterfly was a coppery colour but I rubbed the same gold paint over it to match in with the colour scheme.

I hope you like it.

A bit more progress...

Hey everyone. I've managed to get a bit more scrapping done so thought I would share what I've done so far. I decided to tinker a little more with the first page of the Ciao Bella album (I'll think of a title for it some day) so I've included the photos. There isn't a massive change but I'm not losing the plot and just duplicating photos lol.

The swirl was made using Tim Holtz die called "Elegant Flourishes" which I painted with gold acrylic paint. I then added a little bit of bling and a photo mat. I haven't adhered down the corner of the flourish so that a photo can slide underneath. I have wanted this die for ages but it was always out of stock so I was thrilled to bits when I finally managed to get hold of it :-)

The other die I finally managed to get hold of was Tim Holtz's "Tattered Florals" another one that is nearly aways out of stock. I couldn't wait to have a play so the results are below. This is the 3rd page and I still have some tags to make. I'm just waiting for my children's bedtime before I can play again lol.

So above is the whole page. I used my "Elegant Flourishes" and painted it in copper acrylic paint. I then adhered it to piece of acetate and made it into a pocket. I then used the "Tattered Florals" die to make the flowers in the corner. The edging along the bottom was made using my border punches and they are only glued along the bottom edge so that tags and photos can be slotted behind.

The next photos are just a close up of the flowers and the flourish, with a scrap bit of paper behind the flourish to show the pocket.

I nearly forgot I just made a bow out of some gold ribbon I have and stuck it down using a little bit of hot glue.

Thanks very much for looking and please let me know if you want any more information or if you just want to leave a comment please feel free to do so.

Thanks

Vicki

Finally engaged my brain!

I can't believe how long I have left it between posts! Oops :-( I've been struggling for a camera after mine decided to die on me. My replacement then decided to have a dodgy battery. It would take one photo and would then go flat, so that was rather annoying. And then a light switched on in my brain and I thought "I can use my ipad!" Lol.

Anyway, I've been having a complete block with my mini album but then a few weeks ago I finally got in the mood and completed the second page. This album is going to take forever lol. I also made my very first card (yay) It is completely inspired by a woman called Leanne and her blog is www.luvleescrappin.blogspot.ca. She also has a brilliant youtube channel as well: www.youtube.com/user/Luvleescrappin, so definitely go check her out.

Below are the photos of my recent scrapping. The first picture is of the paper stack that I am using for the mini album. As previously posted, it is called Ciao Bella and is by DCWV.

Thanks for looking and please feel free to leave a comment. I would love some feedback.

Vicki

Ok here is my very first card that I made. All the flowers and other embellishments are from a lovely online shop called Wild Orchid Crafts and their website is as follows: http://www.wildorchidcrafts.com. The paper I used was the Latte stack and co-ordinating card stack by DCWV (They are becoming one of my favs). I also got the mat stacks that match as well.

If you would like any information on what I have done please leave me a comment and I will do my best to explain lol.

Thanks again

Vicki

A few pictures

Sorry it's been so long, again, since I last posted! I haven't managed to do any more scrapping but I have managed to take some photos of the album I started that uses the Ciao Bella papers.

I've made a few mistakes on the front cover but these will be covered up once I actually decorate it. I've covered the whole picture of the bird with glossy accents and I really like the affect. The only problem is it caused my paper to shrink slightly hence there are some wrinkles but I can hide them. I was also impatient to dry the glossy accent so I decided to use my heat gun. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying enough attention and it started to bubble as I got it too hot oops! Again I will cover this with flowers or something.

On the first page I did lots of stamping and embossing which I was really pleased with. I have decided that this album is going to be really fussy seeing as though it is for me lol :-)

Anyway, thanks for looking and hopefully next time I will have some more progress for you.

Quick Update

I didn't realise how long it had been since I last posted so I thought I would just check in. Unfortunately I haven't done much scrapping lately. I have started on the album for myself and I had a change of mind about the paper. I have decided to use the Ciao Bella paper by DCWV. It's a 12" x 12" and it really is lovely. I've had it for quite a while and this is the one that gave me more inspiration.

Now for the bad news...my camera has died! I'm gutted as I always like to have it handy to take pictures of my kids. You never know when they are going to do something that just needs capturing and, at this age, they change so much so quickly I like to keep a record going (plus I need something to go in these albums lol). I don't know if I can get it fixed but I'm trying to sort out some sort of replacement for now. I'll try and post some pictures as soon as I've sorted something out.

Well that's all folks

Success!

I thought I would write a quick update to say the my boyfriends' grandma loved the album I made for her. I'm soooooo glad as it makes all the sweat and tears worth it lol.

I now hope that I will be able to complete an album for myself. I've had the "Once Upon a Time" papers by DCWV since Christmas and I've been saving them for my own album (selfish I know!) but, I just don't know if I can bring myself to cut them up lol. I even bought the mat stack that goes with it to try and make it easier but I don't want to cut them up either ha ha. I need help!

Now I'm going to catch up on some sleep as I couldn't seem to drop off last night and then the kids were up at half 6 (half an hour lie in lol) so I only got about 4 hours :-( I had to stay up and watch Laura Dennisons' Ustream class tonight though... brilliant as always.

Anyway, night all

"All Hallow's Eve" album progress

Hi there,

I've been having great fun working on my Halloween album. I've completed the first two pages so I thought I would share them on my blog.

The pocket was made by simply ripping a piece of the paper and adhering it on three sides.
I've decorated one of the tags with flowers and bling and on the other I have embossed a spider web and highlighted some of the strands with my stickles (you can't really see it in the picture). I also embossed the cat on the back of the page.
On the back you can fit a photo sized 2" x 1 1/2" (about passport size). I put a journaling spot on the other one. Originally I had stamped a circle shaped journaling spot directly to the tag but decided I didn't like it, so I cut out and stamped this journal spot and adhered to the back. I liked this much better and it also covered up the original stamping.
This next page is supposed to look like a grave yard. I have embossed the gate on the front and then adhered it on either side and cut it in half.
Inside, these are supposed to be tombstones. I printed them off my computer, coloured them with Haunted Shadows glimmer mist and then embossed them with clear UTEE. Unfortunately, when I put the UTEE on I lost a lot of the detail that was on the tombstones so I may redo them.
The backs the tombstone tags I just put journaling spots on by stamping in a silver ink.
This is just a picture of the two pages so you can see how they look next to each other.
Thanks for looking

Woohooooooooo!

I just wanted to do a quick update to say I've finally FINISHED the 'Cherish the Moments' album. Yay! I'm soooooo glad it's finished. Now I just need to wrap it and it's ready to go.

I haven't stopped grinning since I finished it and, I actually like the album again now it's finished lol.

Anyway, that's all I really wanted to say :-)

Photos, photos everywhere but, not a drop of ink!

Hi All, yesterday my mum took the kids for me so I thought I would crack on and get the photos printed for my boyfriends' Grandmas' album. I've sorted which pictures I'm using and the sizes they need to be so I was ready to just get on with it and print them. Well, I managed to print off three and that was it...my ink had run out! This album is determined not to get finished. Her birthday is on Thursday so I'm going to have to go and buy some ink today. So that's another £30 gone, sigh!

One good thing to come out of it though is I had the perfect excuse to play with one of the other albums I've started lol. I decided to continue decorating the front cover of my Halloween album. I've taken some photos and thought I would share them with you so you can see the progress I'm making.
In the picture below I've tried to tilt it so that you can see the parts that are glossy, shimmery and sparkly lol.

The roses we're the wrong colour originally so I sprayed them with Haunted Shadows glimmer mist and I was really happy with how they turned out. The title of the album is stamped in Black Soot distress ink and I then embossed it with Enchanted Gold by Papermania. I made a little tag and used my stub corner chomper so it looked a bit like a ticket. For the colour I sprayed it with the Haunted Shadows and darkened it a bit more with Black Soot. I had a stamp that said "You're Invited" but I would have had to make a much bigger tag so in the end I just wrote it on and I think it worked quite well. I thought the tree was looking a bit plain so I got my stickles and lightly "frosted" the branches. It doesn't show up very well in the pictures but, it does look quite effective. Lastly, I stamped the image of a spider with black StazOn and stuck it to a Tim Holtz Fragment and hung it off the spine.

Thanks for looking

Two posts in one day!

Hi again. I thought I would upload the photos of the new albums so that you could see them progressing.

The first photo is of the toilet roll mini. Obviously, I still have a lot more to do to the cover and the rest of the album is blank. You can just see from the photo that the bats have been highlighted with glossy accents by Ranger.
You can see that I've used two rings but there are 3 holes punched. This is because, originally I was going to put just one ring in the middle but I found that the album moved around too much so changed it to two rings. The middle hole will hopefully be covered when I put the papers in. With the pages being constructed from toilet rolls there is a pocket where I will be able to put a photo mat.
The following picture is the 6"x6" pad that I'm using to decorate the album. It is called "Eerie" and is by BasicGrey. I think this paper has been around for quite a while and I got this one off Ebay.
The next pictures are of the paperbags that I have put together using Laura Dennisons' method. The first little flap will be what I use to connect it to the chipboard cover.
The next two photos show how the rest of the album will look, with a larger page and a small flap in the middle with a pocket. There are also pockets at the end of each paperbag which can hold two large photo mats but, I forgot to take a photo.

The next picture is the paper pad I will use to decorate this album. It is an 8"x8" pad called "Spring Feast" and is by First Edition Paper. I purchased this pad back in November when I first started scrapbooking and I got it from WHSmith.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Bye for now

Vicki
Still plodding on!

I've waded through yet more photos for the on going battle with the "Cherish the Moments" album. I've now selected the remaining photos and which pages they are going on. Now to print them all out (sigh). I just hope my printer has enough ink, lol, as I've left it a bit late to have to start messing about buying more (a lack of funds also plays a part).

I have managed to start putting together a new paperbag album. So far I've stuck all the paperbags together using Laura Dennisons technique @ Following the Paper Trail, so I'm looking forward to getting it decorated up.

I've also put together a toilet roll mini which is going to have a Halloween theme. I know it's a bit early for Halloween but, judging from how long my other mini is taking, I think it's wise to start now lol. I've put the front cover on and highlighted some of the bats with glossy accents by Ranger and I'm pleased with how it's looking so far.

I have had to stop myself doing any more on these new albums though, otherwise I really won't ever finish the Grandma-in-laws' album! I am really disliking the photo part of things though...argh. Never mind eh? The finishing post is almost in sight.

Thanks for dropping by. Hopefully I'll have some photos of the new albums soon.

Until next time...

Vicki

Easter Fun

I haven't managed to do any more scrapbooking this week but I did have a lovely day out with my boyfriend and our children. We went for a nice walk through our local wood and then to the park. I've taken lots of photos that I'm hoping to put into a scrapbook (if I ever finish the Grandma in Laws' album lol).

I hope everyone is having a fab Easter (or a fab bank holiday if you don't celebrate Easter)

Making cards

Hi All

I've decided that I really need to start making my own cards but I'm really struggling for inspiration :( I've never actually made my own cards since I was a child lol. I think I might have to set up a card making session with my 2 year old and see if reliving my youth will help me gets some ideas... If not then I'm nicking my daughters and sending it from us all lol.

If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to leave me a comment.

Just a quick update

I've managed to put some more photos into the "Cherish the Moments" album for my boyfriends grandma. It's sooooooo slow going! It took me over 2 hours to complete 3 pages. However, I mustn't be too upset as I'm putting in loads of pictures. I managed to put another 22 pictures in those 3 pages! Each page is 6" high by 8" wide lol. I've wasted a lot of photo paper though as I hadn't picked out all my pictures and what sizes I needed so I ended up printing a tiny picture on a full photo paper instead of trying to fit 3 or 4 in the same size! Oh well, I will learn for next time.

Has anyone else had problems with actually filling albums with pictures? Let me know in the comments.

I'll be back soon with more updates...hopefully!

Photos galore

Hey everyone, today's post is going to be an overload of photos :)

The first set of photos are the album I have been working on for my boyfriends grandma. I have started putting some pictures in so please excuse them lol.

Sorry the photos aren't great. The lighting is really bad in my living room and I'm definitely not a photographer ;-)

The next photos are ATC's that I made to represent the above album and a previous travel themed album I made for my mum.

Ok, and here are the last photos. I promise! This is the mini album in a tin. I haven't taken a lot of pictures as I haven't finished embellishing it yet.

That's it for now lol. Please feel free to leave a comment or ask any questions you might have.

Thanks for looking
